Elimination of Stray and Rabid Dogs

Project Overview

The spread of stray dogs in the cities of Hadhramaut Valley is a significant problem for residents, as these dogs disturb public peace with continuous barking and occasionally attack livestock. According to complaints from citizens, there have been incidents of dog bites affecting children and adults, leading to dangerous diseases such as rabies, salmonella, canine influenza, giardia, tapeworm, and others. Official statistics from the Ministry of Health indicate that from 2021 to 2024, Hadhramaut recorded 428 cases of rabies and 2 deaths.

The project aims to:

  1. Implement a campaign to eliminate stray dogs in the cities and desert regions of Hadhramaut Valley.
  2. Form and equip a stray dog control team with full gear.
  3. Reduce incidents of dog attacks on livestock.
  4. Restore peace and a sense of security for citizens.
  5. Reduce the spread of diseases that may be caused by stray dogs.
